400 Mbps and the signal-integrity budget
At 400 Mbps the edge rate is fast enough that PCB trace length, impedance control, and termination matter. The LVDS common-mode range handles a 1 V ground shift between driver and receiver, which is typical for cables up to a few metres. For backplane routing, keep the differential pair impedance at 100 Ω and place the termination resistor within 5 mm of the receiver input pins.
