Data rate and signal integrity at 400 Mbps
The 400 Mbps data rate is the maximum toggle rate the driver can sustain into a 100-Ω differential load. At this speed the output transition time is fast enough that the PCB trace length must be matched and the differential impedance controlled to avoid reflections that close the eye diagram at the receiver input. Because the part is a driver only (1/0 configuration), it always requires a companion LVDS receiver at the far end of the link. The differential swing is typically 350 mV into 100 Ω, keeping the EMI low compared to single-ended signalling at the same data rate.
