Single-axis Hall sensor for automotive and industrial position sensing
The DRV5053RAQLPG is a single-axis Hall effect sensor from Texas Instruments' automotive-qualified series, delivering an analog voltage output proportional to the applied magnetic flux density. Its ±18 mT sensing range and 20 kHz bandwidth suit it for fast position, proximity, and current-sensing loops in engine bays, transmission controllers, and industrial actuators. The wide supply range from 2.5 V to 38 V means it can share a 12 V or 24 V automotive rail without an intermediate regulator, though the analog output swing scales with the supply — so a stable reference improves accuracy in precision applications.
The analog output voltage is ratiometric to the supply: at Vcc = 5 V, the quiescent output sits near 2.5 V (mid-rail), and the sensitivity is typically 1.3 mV/mT. At Vcc = 3.3 V, the quiescent output drops to about 1.65 V, and the sensitivity scales down proportionally — so the ADC reference should track the sensor supply to preserve measurement linearity. The 2.3 mA maximum output current is enough to drive a single ADC input or a comparator directly, but not a long cable or multiple loads without a buffer.

Through-hole TO-92-3 package for prototyping and retrofit
The TO-92-3 short-body through-hole package (3-pin, 2.54 mm pitch) is breadboard-friendly and easy to hand-solder, making it a natural choice for prototype runs or retrofitting into existing PCB layouts that already use a TO-92 footprint. The flat face of the package is the marked side; the Hall element is sensitive perpendicular to that face.
