Single-axis Hall sensor with ±35 mT range
The DRV5053CAQLPG is a linear Hall-effect sensor from Texas Instruments that outputs an analog voltage proportional to the magnetic flux density perpendicular to the package face. It senses a single axis over a ±35 mT range, making it a direct-fit choice for position sensing in brushless DC motor rotors, linear actuator feedback, and current-sense modules where the magnet air gap is known and stable. The analog output eliminates the need for a digital interface or external ADC trigger — the voltage swings linearly with the field, so a simple ADC input on the host MCU reads the position or current directly.
Wide supply and temperature envelope
Supply voltage spans 2.5 V to 38 V, which covers both 3.3 V logic rails and unregulated 12 V or 24 V automotive/industrial buses without a series regulator. The sensor is temperature compensated, which keeps the sensitivity drift within the datasheet limits across the full range — important for a brake-pedal position sensor or an exhaust-gas recirculation valve that sees both cold start and under-hood soak-back.
Through-hole TO-92-3 package and bandwidth
Housed in a TO-92-3 through-hole package, the sensor is hand-solderable and fits breadboard prototypes as well as production boards where the assembly line prefers wave solder over reflow. The 20 kHz bandwidth is adequate for motor commutation at moderate pole counts and for vibration monitoring up to the first few harmonics of a 10 kHz mechanical resonance.
