500 mA, 2.1 V to 5.5 V BLDC fan driver — what it buys the design
The DRV10963JMDSNT is a fully integrated BLDC motor driver with control logic and three half-bridge power MOSFETs. It delivers up to 500 mA from a 2.1 V to 5.5 V supply and load range, and uses a PWM interface for speed control.
Three half-bridges, one PWM input — no firmware overhead
The internal commutation logic handles the six-step sequence; the host only needs to send a PWM duty cycle on the input pin. The 500 mA current rating is the total output capability across all three phases.
Package and thermal: 10-UFDFN with exposed pad
The 10-SON (3x3 mm) package has an exposed thermal pad on the bottom. In a fan-driver layout that pad is the primary heat path — a via-stitched ground plane under the pad keeps the junction below the 125°C maximum at full load. The part is surface mount only, which suits automated assembly, but the small pad makes hand rework tricky without a hot-air station.
