8-bit bus transceiver for 5V backplanes
The CY74FCT2245CTSOCT is an 8-bit non-inverting transceiver from the 74FCT family, designed for bidirectional data flow on a 5V bus with 3-state outputs that let multiple drivers share the same lines. It runs from a 4.75V to 5.25V supply rail, so it is a straight 5V logic part — not a 3.3V-tolerant device. The single-element, 8-bit architecture is a workhorse for buffered data paths in industrial controllers, telecom line cards, and memory-interface glue logic where you need controlled impedance and low propagation delay.
15 mA source, 12 mA sink — bus loading budget
Output drive is rated at 15 mA high and 12 mA low, which is typical for a 5V FCT transceiver. That drive strength determines how many standard TTL loads you can fan out on a backplane segment. The 3-state outputs let you wire-OR multiple transceivers on the same bus without contention, as long as only one enable is active at a time.
ROHS3 compliant, which covers the latest EU exemption updates.
