In a typical system it selects one memory bank, enables one peripheral chip, or routes a signal to one of eight destinations — the sort of address decoding you see on a board with multiple parallel devices. The single 3:8 configuration (one decoder section, eight outputs) fits designs that need exactly one decode tree without leftover gates.
Temperature range and output drive
Rated for -55°C to 125°C, this is the full military temperature grade — the same die that goes into defence and aerospace builds.
