14-pin DIP integration — footprint and board-fit
The CD74HC125E is a Texas Instruments 74HC-series quad buffer with non-inverting logic and 3-state outputs, housed in a 14-lead plastic DIP (0.300-inch row spacing). The through-hole PDIP package suits breadboard prototyping, legacy socketed designs, or wave-solder assembly in through-hole PCBs — the 7.62 mm body width and 2.54 mm pin pitch are standard across 14-pin DIP layouts.
Output drive and 3-state control
Each of the four elements sinks or sources 7.8 mA (typical) at the rated supply voltage — enough to drive a standard TTL load, an LED indicator through a series resistor, or the input of a downstream CMOS gate without additional buffering. The 3-state output enable per element lets the bus float high-Z when the line is not driven, so multiple buffers can share a common data bus without contention.
