24 mA output drive and fan-out margin
Each output can source or sink 24 mA, which means the CD74ACT157PW can drive multiple CMOS or TTL inputs without needing a buffer. In a typical 5V system, 24 mA gives a fan-out of 24 standard 74LS loads or 480 74HC loads — plenty of margin for a shared data bus. The 74ACT series uses advanced CMOS technology with TTL-compatible input thresholds, so it interfaces directly with older 5V TTL logic without level translation. Propagation delays are in the 6-10 ns range typical for this family, fast enough for most 8- and 16-bit bus applications.
16-TSSOP package and board integration
The 4 x 2:1 configuration means four independent 2-input multiplexers share a common select line. Each multiplexer selects between its A and B inputs, and the outputs can be individually enabled or tied together for wider bus muxing. The single-supply operation eliminates the need for dual rails.
