Dual 4-bit binary counter with wide supply flexibility
The CD4520BPW is a dual 4-bit binary up-counter from TI's 4000B series, clocked at up to 8 MHz with both positive- and negative-edge trigger options — useful when the upstream signal polarity is fixed and you cannot insert an inverter. The asynchronous reset clears both counters immediately when the reset pin is asserted, independent of the clock state — a clean way to force a known state at power-on or after a fault without waiting for a clock edge.
Operating from 3 V to 18 V, this counter spans a single lithium cell up to a regulated 15 V rail — no separate level translator needed when the rest of the logic runs at 5 V or 12 V.
