Six Schmitt-trigger inverters in a single 14-SOIC
The Texas Instruments CD40106BMT is a hex inverter — six independent Schmitt-trigger gates in one 14-SOIC package. Each gate has a single input with hysteresis, so a slow or noisy signal cleans up into a sharp digital edge without external RC debouncing. The 4000B family runs on a 3V to 18V supply, which means it can interface directly with 5V, 12V, or even 15V logic rails without a level shifter.
At 15V and 50 pF load, the max propagation delay is 120 ns per gate. That is fine for switch debouncing, oscillator circuits, or slow control handshakes, but it rules out high-speed data paths or clock recovery loops. If your design needs sub-20 ns delays, the SN74HCS04PWR (16 ns at 6V) is a faster alternative, though it runs on a narrower 2V–6V supply.
4 µA quiescent current — the always-on draw
Maximum quiescent current is 4 µA across the full supply range. That makes the CD40106BMT a candidate for battery-backed supervisor circuits or wake-up logic where every microamp counts. At 3V the draw is even lower; the 4000B series is known for micropower idle consumption.
