BLE 5.1 wireless MCU with integrated Flash
The Texas Instruments CC2640R2FYFVR is a Bluetooth v5.1 wireless MCU from the SimpleLink™ family, combining a 2.4 GHz radio with an ARM Cortex-M3 core and 128 kB of Flash memory plus 28 kB SRAM. It targets low-power Bluetooth applications where a single-chip solution handles both the protocol stack and application code. The 2 Mbps PHY rate doubles the legacy BLE throughput, useful for firmware-over-the-air updates or higher-rate sensor streaming.
RF link budget and power profile
Receiver sensitivity of -97 dBm combined with a 5 dBm transmit output gives a usable link budget for indoor beaconing or wearable links where the antenna is small and the path loss is high. Current draw sits at 5.9 mA in receive and 9.1 mA during transmit, which keeps the battery budget predictable for a coin-cell design.
GPIO count and serial interface set
Fourteen GPIO pins are brought out on the 34-ball DSBGA package, with serial interfaces including I²C, I²S, SPI, and UART. That is enough for a typical BLE sensor node: one I²C for an IMU or environmental sensor, one SPI for an external Flash or display, and a UART for debug or host communication. The 2.71 mm x 2.71 mm package footprint is compact enough for space-constrained wearables or medical patches.
