Wireless MCU with integrated Bluetooth v5.1
The Texas Instruments CC2640F128RGZR is a SimpleLink™ wireless microcontroller combining a 2.4GHz Bluetooth v5.1 transceiver with an ARM Cortex-M3 core. It packs 128kB Flash and 28kB SRAM, enough for a full BLE stack plus application code in a single chip. The receiver hits -97dBm sensitivity, and the transmitter can deliver up to 5dBm output power.
RF performance and link budget
With -97dBm sensitivity and 5dBm transmit power, the CC2640F128RGZR delivers a solid link budget for Bluetooth LE applications. The 2.4GHz radio supports DSSS, O-QPSK, and GFSK modulation, covering the BLE physical layer requirements. Current draw sits at 5.9mA to 6.1mA in receive and 6.1mA to 9.1mA during transmit, which keeps battery-powered designs viable for coin-cell operation.
Memory and peripheral interface
The 128kB Flash and 28kB SRAM provide comfortable headroom for a Bluetooth stack plus application logic. The 31 GPIO lines connect to sensors, buttons, LEDs, or external peripherals. Serial interfaces include I²C, I²S, JTAG, SPI, and UART, giving flexibility for sensor fusion, audio codecs, or debug access. The 1.8V to 3.8V supply range lets it run directly from a lithium coin cell or a regulated 3.3V rail.
Package and thermal handling
Housed in a 48-VFQFN Exposed Pad package (7x7 mm body), the CC2640F128RGZR requires a surface-mount reflow profile. Store the reels dry — MSL rating applies per the moisture sensitivity level on the reel label.
