The Texas Instruments CC2541F128RHAT is a single-chip Bluetooth 5.0 SoC combining a 2.4 GHz transceiver with an embedded MCU core. The 23 GPIO lines give you room for external sensors, LEDs, or a small keypad without needing a port expander. Receiver sensitivity is rated at -99 dBm, which translates to a usable link budget around 90 dB at 0 dBm TX output — enough for line-of-sight ranges of 50–100 m in a clean indoor environment.
Serial interfaces include I²C, SPI, and USART, which cover the common sensor and memory peripherals in a BLE node. Current draw during receive sits between 17.9 mA and 20.2 mA; transmit current runs 16.8 mA to 18.2 mA at 0 dBm output — figures that matter when you size the battery for a year of coin-cell operation with low-duty-cycle advertising.
Modulation and data rate — GFSK/MSK, 2 Mbps max
The radio supports GFSK and MSK modulation with a maximum data rate of 2 Mbps. That is the Bluetooth 5.0 LE 2M PHY rate, which doubles the throughput of the older 1 Mbps mode while keeping the same 2.4 GHz band and -99 dBm sensitivity floor. For applications that stream sensor data or push firmware updates over the air, the 2 Mbps link shortens the on-air time and reduces average power consumption.
