The CC2530F256RHAR is a Texas Instruments single-chip Zigbee solution integrating a 2.4 GHz IEEE 802.15.4 transceiver with an 8051-based MCU. If your design runs a large OTA update buffer or multiple concurrent profiles, the 8 kB RAM ceiling is the first constraint to budget against.

The receiver sensitivity of −97 dBm at 250 kbps gives roughly 10 dB of margin over the −85 dBm typical indoor path loss at 30 m through two walls. The 4.5 dBm maximum output is modest — enough for a 100 m line-of-sight link with a quarter-wave monopole, but not for mesh nodes that need to punch through concrete floors. For range-extended designs, an external front-end module (PA/LNA) is the typical add; the CC2530 integrates the TX/RX switch internally, so the RF port stays single-ended.
