2.4 GHz pure radio front-end — no protocol stack onboard
The TI CC2500RTKR is a single-chip 2.4 GHz transceiver for the ISM band, classified as TxRx Only — meaning it has no embedded MCU or protocol stack. It handles modulation formats 2FSK, GFSK, MSK, and OOK at data rates up to 500 kBaud, making it a flexible RF front-end for custom link-layer designs in applications like wireless sensor networks, remote controls, and industrial telemetry. Sensitivity is rated at -104 dBm, and with a maximum output power of 1 dBm the total link budget sits around 105 dB before antenna gains — enough for several hundred metres line-of-sight with a modest dipole.
Package and layout: 20-QFN with exposed pad
The SPI serial interface controls all register configuration and data transfer. Current consumption ranges from 13.3 mA to 19.6 mA in receive mode and 11.1 mA to 21.5 mA during transmission, depending on output power and modulation settings.
