Frequency-agile sub-1 GHz transceiver for multi-band ISM designs
The TI CC1101RGP is a single-chip sub-1 GHz transceiver covering three wide frequency bands: 300–348 MHz, 387–464 MHz, and 779–928 MHz. It supports multiple modulation formats including 2FSK, 4FSK, GFSK, MSK, and OOK, with a programmable output power up to 12 dBm and receiver sensitivity down to -116 dBm. This part is a workhorse for low-power wireless links in the 868/915 MHz bands, from smart meters to building automation.
600 kbps data rate — what it buys the link budget
With a maximum data rate of 600 kbps, the CC1101RGP can carry compressed audio, fast sensor arrays, or firmware-over-the-air payloads without needing a higher-frequency radio. The -116 dBm sensitivity at lower data rates gives roughly 10 dB more link margin than a typical 2.4 GHz solution, which translates to longer range through walls or in dense urban clutter.
20-QFN (4x4 mm) — board area and thermal management
Housed in a 20-VFQFN exposed-pad package (4x4 mm body), the CC1101RGP is a surface-mount device. The small footprint leaves room for the antenna matching network and decoupling caps on a compact two-layer board.
