Built-in fault protection covers overcurrent, over/under voltage, and short-circuit conditions, which means the gauge can serve as the primary safety monitor in the battery pack without a separate protector IC.

The BQ27742YZFT-G1 comes in a 15-bump DSBGA (Wafer-Level Chip Scale Package). The supplier device package is 15-DSBGA, identical to the case code. Available in Tape & Reel (TR) or Cut Tape (CT) for prototyping. For production, the TR option is the usual pick; CT suits small-run or bench builds. No tube or tray option exists for this package.
