The maximum charge current of 300 mA sets the practical battery capacity this part can charge in a reasonable time. The charge current is programmable via I²C, so the same BOM can support different battery sizes by changing firmware rather than the charger resistor.
I²C control and fault protection
The I²C interface lets the system host set the charge current, monitor status, and terminate charge. No external resistor divider is needed for current programming. The charger also includes over-temperature, over-voltage, and short-circuit protection — three fault conditions that cover the common failure modes in a portable device.
The 25-ball DSBGA is a wafer-level chip-scale package. It requires a solder-paste stencil, reflow oven, and X-ray inspection for assembly.
It is ROHS3 compliant.
