The BQ24298RTWR is a single-cell Li-Ion/Polymer charger IC delivering up to 3A programmable charge current via I²C interface — the 3A ceiling sets the minimum charge time for a 3000 mAh pack at roughly one hour, assuming the input supply and thermal budget support it. Constant-current charging is programmable through the I²C bus, which also provides status monitoring and termination control — the host microcontroller reads the charge state without a separate ADC pin.
Fault protection and supply range
Integrated overcurrent, overtemperature, and overvoltage protection means the charger handles input transients and battery faults without external comparators — the 6.2V max supply voltage gives headroom for 5V USB adapters and 5V regulated rails.
Surface-mount assembly with Tape & Reel or Cut Tape packaging — the 24-WFQFN footprint is standard for QFN reflow profiles; no special stencil aperture beyond the datasheet land pattern.
