Single-cell Li-Ion charger with I²C programmability
The BQ24292IRGET is a single-cell Lithium Ion/Polymer battery charger IC from Texas Instruments, part of the BQ24292 family. It handles one cell with a programmable constant-current charge profile and a maximum charge current of 4.5 A. The I²C interface lets the host microcontroller set the charge current and termination voltage — no external resistor dividers for current programming. The battery pack voltage ceiling is 4.4 V.
Input range and fault protection
Supply voltage max is 17 V, so the IC accepts standard USB 5 V, Qualcomm Quick Charge 9 V, and 12 V barrel jacks without a separate pre-regulator. The internal protection block covers over-current, over-temperature, and over-voltage faults — the IC self-protects without external supervision. This is not an automotive-grade temperature range, but it suits most commercial and industrial enclosures.
The 24-VFQFN exposed-pad package (4x4 mm body, supplier device package 24-VQFN) requires a thermal land pattern on the PCB. Available in Tape & Reel for high-volume pick-and-place or Cut Tape for prototype and small-batch builds. Surface-mount only; no through-hole variant.
Suitable for new designs and long-term BOM commitment. ROHS3 compliant. The base product number is BQ24292; the IRGET suffix denotes the specific package and temperature grade.
