1.55A charge current — sizing the power path
The 1.55A max charge current sets the charge time for a single-cell pack. That current also drives the thermal design: The charge current is programmable via I²C, which lets firmware trade off charge speed against thermal budget. A timer-based safety cut-off backs up the host if communication is lost.
