Li-ion charger in a 3.5x4.5 mm QFN
The BQ24103ARHLT is a Texas Instruments bqSWITCHER™ series Li-Ion/Li-Pol battery charger IC in a 20-VQFN package with a 3.5x4.5 mm footprint and an exposed thermal pad. It handles 1 or 2 cells in series, delivering a programmable constant charge current up to 2 A and regulating the battery pack voltage to 8.4 V for a two-cell stack.
Charge control and protection envelope
The charge current is constant and programmable via an external resistor, with a timer-based termination — the IC also exposes programmable current and timer features for tailoring the charge profile. Built-in fault protection covers over-temperature and over-voltage conditions — the thermal shutdown threshold prevents die damage during extended charge cycles in a confined enclosure. Supply voltage tolerance extends to 16 V max, which gives margin for a 12 V wall adapter or USB-C PD input without an external clamp.
Temperature grade and board integration
The 20-VFQFN exposed-pad package (3.5x4.5 mm body) requires a thermal land pattern on the PCB with adequate via stitching to the inner ground layer — the datasheet layout recommendation drives the copper area needed for 2 A charge current without thermal foldback.
Active production and compliance
ROHS3 compliant per the manufacturer's declaration, with no exemptions flagged.
