The Texas Instruments BQ24081DRCR is a linear battery charger IC designed for single-cell (1-cell) Lithium-Ion or Lithium-Polymer packs. It delivers a constant-current/constant-voltage (CC/CV) charge profile with a regulated 4.2V battery voltage and a maximum charge current of 1A, programmable via an external resistor. The charge current and a safety timer are both programmable (Current, Timer) — the timer provides a backup termination if the battery does not reach the voltage threshold within the set window, which is a standard safety feature for unattended charging. The input supply can go up to 6.5V (max), so a 5V USB rail or a 5V wall adapter is the typical upstream source.
