Device identity and charge profile
The Texas Instruments BQ24005PWPR is a linear Li-Ion battery charger IC designed for 2-cell packs, delivering a constant-current charge up to 1.2 A and terminating at 8.4 V pack voltage. The charge current and timer are programmable via external components, giving the BOM engineer control over the charge profile without firmware.
Temperature grade and protection
On-chip over-temperature protection shuts down the charger if the die exceeds the thermal limit — a safeguard against a stalled fan or blocked vent in a sealed enclosure.
