Quad differential line receiver for RS422/RS485 buses
The AM26LV32CDR is a quad differential line receiver from Texas Instruments, designed for balanced data transmission over RS422 and RS485 networks. It integrates four independent receivers in a single 16-SOIC package, each with 50 mV of hysteresis to reject noise on long cable runs.
50 mV hysteresis and fail-safe behavior
The 50 mV of receiver hysteresis provides a clean switching threshold that prevents output chatter when the differential input signal is slow-moving or noisy — a common condition on long twisted-pair runs in electrically noisy industrial bays. Without this hysteresis, the receiver would oscillate when the bus is idle or unterminated. As a receiver-only device (0 drivers, 4 receivers), the AM26LV32CDR is the bus-side interface that converts differential RS422/RS485 signals to single-ended CMOS logic levels.
