20-SOIC wide-body motor driver with 1.4 A per bridge
The L6225DTR from STMicroelectronics' STSPIN L62 series is a fully integrated motor driver combining control logic and DMOS power stages in a single 20-SOIC wide-body package (7.50 mm width). It delivers 1.4 A continuous output current per half-bridge across an 8 V to 52 V supply and load voltage range — the same rail powers both the logic and the motor, simplifying the power tree to a single unregulated supply. The four half-bridge outputs can be configured to drive a single bipolar stepper motor or two brushed DC motors, making this a single-chip solution for positioning stages, pump actuators, or small conveyor drives where board space is tight.
What the 1.4 A rating means for your motor selection
The 1.4 A continuous rating per bridge is the RMS current the DMOS outputs can sustain without exceeding the junction temperature limit of 125°C under normal PCB copper dissipation. For a bipolar stepper motor rated 1.0 A per phase, this driver runs with margin; a 1.5 A motor would require current limiting or active cooling. The BiCDMOS process integrates the DMOS output stage with CMOS control logic, so the parallel interface connects directly to a microcontroller's GPIO without external level shifters — the logic supply is the same 8-52 V rail, regulated internally.
Active production and compliance posture
The Tape & Reel packaging option aligns with high-volume pick-and-place assembly.
