150Mbps capacitive-coupled isolation in a 16-QSOP footprint
The SI8640BA-B-IU is a 4-channel general-purpose digital isolator from Skyworks Solutions' Si864x family, built around capacitive coupling technology. It delivers 150Mbps data rate across a 2500Vrms isolation barrier, with all four channels running unidirectional from side 1 to side 2 (4/0 input/output configuration). The 35ns max propagation delay (tpLH/tpHL) and 2.5ns typical rise/fall time set the timing budget for the signal path — at 150Mbps the bit period is 6.67ns, so the propagation delay dominates the channel latency, not the edge rate. The 35kV/µs minimum common-mode transient immunity means the isolator holds its output state through fast voltage transients across the barrier, which is the spec that matters in motor-drive or inverter-fed systems where the ground plane jumps.
