Automotive traction inverter gate drive isolation
The Skyworks SI8261AAD-C-IS is a single-channel digital isolator with capacitive coupling, rated for 5000 Vrms isolation — enough galvanic barrier for the DC-bus voltage in a 400 V or 800 V traction inverter, where the gate driver must sit on the high-side rail and the controller on the low-side ground.
600 mA peak output — SiC and GaN gate drive ready
Peak output current is 600 mA, with a 400 mA source / 600 mA sink rating. That's enough to charge the gate capacitance of a SiC MOSFET or GaN HEMT in the tens-of-nC range within the 60 ns propagation delay window — no external push-pull booster needed for most 650 V to 1200 V devices. Common-mode transient immunity is 35 kV/µs minimum. In a hard-switched inverter, the high-side switch node slews at 20-50 kV/µs; a CMTI below that threshold would couple the transient across the isolation barrier and corrupt the gate signal. 35 kV/µs gives margin for the fastest SiC edges.
Active lifecycle — no LTB pressure on this BOM line
Product status is Active. Standard sourcing through authorized and independent distribution; lead time and pricing confirmed at RFQ. Approvals include CQC, CSA, UR, and VDE — the part carries the marks needed for a global bill of materials shipping into China, North America, and the EU without a separate qualification round. RoHS3 compliant.
Package and board-fit — 6-SOIC wide body
Surface-mount, supplied in tube. The 6-SDIP Gull Wing variant has a longer lead form than the standard SOIC-6, giving a higher seated height and better creepage distance over the PCB surface. Confirm the solder paste stencil aperture matches the gull-wing lead geometry — the heel fillet is larger than a J-bend.
