The SI8234AB-D-IM1 is a dual-channel digital isolator from Skyworks Solutions that pairs 2500Vrms galvanic isolation with a 4 A peak output stage — enough current to drive the gate capacitance of a SiC MOSFET or a medium-current IGBT through the Miller plateau without excessive switching loss.
AEC-Q100 Grade 1 — under-hood temperature range
The 45 kV/µs minimum common-mode transient immunity (CMTI) means the isolator does not latch or corrupt the output when the motor-drive DC bus slews at tens of kilovolts per microsecond during a PWM switching edge — a spec that separates automotive-grade gate-driver isolators from industrial parts.
Package and supply rails
Housed in a 14-QFN (5x5 mm) with an exposed thermal pad, the part requires a solid copper pour on the top layer under the package to pull heat out of the die during continuous 4 A gate-drive bursts. The output supply range is 6.5 V to 24 V, which directly biases the gate-drive stage — no separate regulator needed between the 12 V or 24 V vehicle battery rail and the isolator's VDDA/VDDB pins.
