Automotive-grade 16Kbit EEPROM for calibration and configuration storage
The ROHM BR93H86RFVM-2CTR is a 16Kbit non-volatile EEPROM organized as 1K x 16 bits, communicating over a Microwire serial interface at up to 2 MHz. The wide supply voltage of 2.5V to 5.5V lets it sit on either a 3.3V or 5V automotive rail without an extra regulator. Typical applications include storing calibration constants, VIN/part-number data, and fault logs in engine control units, transmission controllers, and body electronics modules.
The 2 MHz clock rate on the Microwire interface yields a raw serial bit rate of 2 Mbps. For a 16-bit word, a read cycle takes roughly 8 µs plus the 4 ms write cycle time per page or word. That write time is the throughput bottleneck if you are logging data at high frequency — this part is sized for infrequent parameter updates, not streaming writes. The Microwire protocol uses a dedicated chip-select and a single bidirectional data line, so the firmware driver is straightforward but differs from SPI in the command framing.
