Automotive-grade 16Kbit EEPROM for calibration and configuration storage
The ROHM BR93H86RF-WCE2 is a 16Kbit serial EEPROM with a Microwire interface, organized as 1K x 16 bits. It is qualified to AEC-Q100, making it suitable for automotive under-hood and chassis-domain applications where non-volatile storage of calibration constants, VIN, or fault logs is required.
The Microwire interface runs at 1.25 MHz, which is the standard speed for this serial protocol. For a typical automotive ECU reading a 16-bit word at startup, the access time is well under 1 ms, so it won't delay power-on self-tests. The 5 ms write cycle time for a word or page is typical for EEPROMs of this density and should be factored into any calibration update routine — the bus is busy during the write, and the part does not acknowledge further commands until the cycle completes.
If your design targets a cabin or chassis location with a lower temperature ceiling, this part still works, but a commercial-temperature variant might save cost — though the AEC-Q100 qualification alone often justifies the automotive-grade part for any vehicle program.
