The R7F100GGF2DFB#BA0: The RL78/G23 core runs at 32 MHz, a 16-bit architecture that balances throughput against power draw for always-on sensing applications. The 96 KB flash and 12 KB RAM leave room for a capacitive-touch library, a small RTOS, and several communication stacks without squeezing the firmware into the last 2 KB. An integrated 8 KB EEPROM eliminates the external serial memory chip for calibration constants, user settings, or event logs — one fewer BOM line and no I²C/SPI bus overhead for reads.
Capacitive touch and 12-bit ADC — sensor front-end on a single chip
For a control panel with membrane buttons, a slider, and an analog sensor (e.g., NTC thermistor or photodiode), this MCU handles the entire analog chain — no external op-amp or comparator needed. The 40 GPIOs in the 48-LQFP package give enough headroom for a small TFT display parallel bus, a few LED indicators, and the touch electrodes, all on a single board layer.
