Peripheral set for secure fieldbus nodes
The on-chip AES accelerator and true random number generator offload cryptographic operations from the CPU — useful for secure boot, encrypted OTA firmware updates, or CAN message authentication. The capacitive touch sensing unit replaces an external touch controller in a panel HMI, reading up to 39 I/O pins as touch channels through the same pin multiplexer. Connectivity includes CANbus, I²C, SCI (UART), and SPI — the CAN controller supports standard and extended frames at up to 1 Mbps, adequate for a J1939 or CANopen node on a factory-floor backbone. The 11-channel 12-bit ADC samples analog sensors at up to 1 µs conversion time, sufficient for a three-phase current-sense on a motor drive sampled at 10 kHz.
Package and board integration
The 48-LQFP package with a 7x7 mm body uses a 0.50 mm pitch — hand-solderable in rework but requiring a 4-layer PCB to fan out the inner rows of the QFP.
The RX140 series is the current mid-range family in the RX lineup, so the part is safe for a new-design-in with a multi-year production horizon. ROHS3 compliant, no exemptions.
