Active 16-bit MCU in a 3x3 mm QFN
The R5F1054AGNA#20 is an active-production RL78/G11 16-bit MCU from Renesas, clocked at 24 MHz with 16 KB of on-chip Flash and 1.5 KB of RAM. The 2 KB of EEPROM on board means calibration constants or configuration parameters can be stored without an external serial memory device. The 13 available I/O lines are enough for a few sensor inputs, a small display, or a local control loop.
Internal oscillator eliminates the need for an external crystal or resonator for the system clock, saving two I/O pins and a board-layer via. The LVD (low-voltage detect), POR (power-on reset), and WDT (watchdog timer) peripherals are on-chip, so no external supervisor IC is required for brown-out or watchdog coverage.
Mixed-signal and connectivity on a small footprint
The ADC block provides 9 channels at 10-bit resolution, and the DAC offers 2 channels at 8-bit — enough for reading analog sensors and driving a small analog output without an external converter. The CSI, I²C, and UART/USART serial interfaces cover common sensor and actuator buses. ROHS3 compliant per the manufacturer's declaration. The tray packaging is standard for QFN devices; no special handling beyond MSL precautions typical for exposed-pad packages.
