32 MHz RL78 core with 64 KB program flash
The R5F104BEGFP#10 is a 16-bit RL78/G14 microcontroller from Renesas, clocked at 32 MHz. Its 64 KB on-chip flash provides enough firmware space for a full application stack with a small RTOS, while the 5.5 KB RAM handles moderate data buffering and stack depth — adequate for control loops and serial communication but tight for heavy graphics or large lookup tables.
Peripheral set and I/O count
25 general-purpose I/O pins in a 32-LQFP package — the I/O count is the limiting factor for peripheral expansion. On-chip peripherals include LVD, POR, PWM, and WDT, reducing external supervisory and timing components. The connectivity suite covers CSI, I²C, LINbus, and UART/USART, supporting common serial buses and automotive LIN. Data conversion comes from an 8-channel 10-bit ADC and a 2-channel 8-bit DAC, sufficient for basic sensor acquisition and analog output.
Package and board integration
Surface-mount mounting with a standard 0.8 mm pitch keeps the layout straightforward. The tray packaging is typical for production quantities; reels are available through the supply chain.
