LIN physical-layer interface for 5V body nodes
The TJA1028T/5V0/20/1J is a single-wire LIN transceiver from NXP, built to interface a UART-based LIN protocol controller with the physical bus in a 5V-supplied node. It implements the LIN physical layer per the LIN specification, handling bus wake-up, dominant/recessive state detection, and slew-rate control for EMC compliance. The transceiver operates from a tightly regulated 4.9 V to 5.1 V supply rail, which means the 5V bus regulator on the board must be within 2% tolerance. The half-duplex architecture uses a single bus wire; the driver and receiver share the same LIN pin, so the MCU's UART must manage the transmit/receive turn-around. Receiver hysteresis is specified at 200 mV, which provides noise immunity on the bus line — the input threshold has a defined switch point that rejects ground shifts and coupled interference common in automotive harnesses.
Automotive temperature grade and package footprint
The 150°C junction rating provides margin for self-heating in a sealed ECU near the exhaust or turbocharger. The narrow-body SOIC is a common pinout for LIN transceivers, so the PCB layout matches many existing reference designs from NXP and third parties.
