50 MHz ColdFire V1 — throughput for real-time control
The MCF51JU64VHS runs a ColdFire V1 32-bit core at 50 MHz, backed by 64 KB of Flash and 16 KB of RAM. That clock rate and memory budget fit control loops that need to sample sensors, run a PID, and push PWM updates within a few microseconds — think brushless DC motor commutation or a multi-axis joystick interface.
Peripheral set — USB OTG, ADC, and PWM on a small footprint
On-chip peripherals include a 9-channel 12-bit ADC and a 1-channel 12-bit DAC for analog signal chain, plus PWM, I²S, and a watchdog timer. The USB OTG controller handles host or device roles, and the EBI/EMI interface can connect external memory or a display controller. With 31 general-purpose I/O lines in a 44-pin MAPLGA package (5x5 mm), the pin count is tight but enough for a sensor hub or a human-machine interface with a small TFT.
