ColdFire V2 core at 120 MHz — ROMless design
The SCF5250AG120 is a 32-bit single-core microcontroller built around the ColdFire V2 core, clocked at 120 MHz. It is part of the SCF52xx series from NXP Semiconductors. This is a ROMless device — program memory must be supplied externally via the EBI/EMI interface. On-chip RAM is 128K x 8, sufficient for data buffers and stack in a memory-mapped system.
Peripheral set and I/O budget
57 general-purpose I/O lines are available, along with connectivity including EBI/EMI, I²C, SPI, UART/USART, IDE, and Memory Card interfaces. On-chip peripherals include DMA, I²S, POR, Serial Audio, and a watchdog timer. A 6-channel 12-bit A/D converter is integrated for analog sensor inputs. The oscillator is internal, reducing external BOM count.
Package, supply, and temperature range
Housed in a 144-LQFP package (20x20 mm body), surface-mount. The core supply range is 1.08 V to 1.32 V — a dedicated 1.2 V rail is typical for this family.
