AEC-Q100 qualified 4-bit level translator
The NTS0104BQ-Q100X is a 4-bit bidirectional voltage level translator from NXP Semiconductors, part of the Automotive AEC-Q100 series. The bidirectional channel type accepts both open-drain and push-pull output types, making it suitable for I²C, SPI, and UART level-shifting applications in vehicle body electronics, infotainment, and ADAS sensor interfaces.
Supply rails and signal integrity for mixed-voltage domains
The dual-supply architecture requires that the lower-voltage rail (VCCA) does not exceed VCCB at any time. The 50 Mbps data rate supports fast bus transitions without external direction hardware, but the actual throughput depends on the load capacitance and the pull-up resistor values on open-drain lines. The auto-direction sensing circuit monitors the voltage on each I/O pin and switches the pass-gate direction within a few nanoseconds. In practice, this means a mixed-voltage interface between a 3.3 V MCU and a 5 V sensor or actuator can be implemented with a single IC and no firmware direction control. The 14-DHVQFN package with exposed pad (2.5 mm × 3 mm) requires a thermal land pattern on the PCB for adequate heat dissipation at high data rates.
