The MPC17550EVEL is a fully integrated driver that combines control logic and power stage in one 36-SSOP package — no external FETs needed for the half-bridge outputs. It drives both brushed DC and bipolar stepper motors, with eight half-bridge outputs rated 700 mA each. The parallel interface simplifies connection to a microcontroller's GPIO without a serial protocol.
The MPC17550EVEL has eight half-bridge outputs (four H-bridges) compared to four half-bridges (two H-bridges) on the MPC17531ATEP. The MPC17550EVEL also supports a lower load voltage down to 1.6 V, versus 2 V on the peer.
