240 MHz Cortex-M7 — what it buys the motor-control loop
The NXP MKV56F1M0VLL24 is a Kinetis KV-series 32-bit ARM Cortex-M7 MCU clocked at 240 MHz, built for real-time motor-control and industrial drive applications. The 1 MB Flash and 256 KB SRAM give headroom for sensorless FOC algorithms, dual-axis servo loops, or EtherCAT stack + application code without external memory. The 100-LQFP package keeps the board layout manageable for a 4-layer power board.
1 MB Flash, 256 KB SRAM — sizing the firmware and data buffers
With 1 MB Flash you can stage a full firmware image plus an OTA fallback partition. The 256 KB SRAM handles multiple 16-bit current-sense arrays, a position-encoder buffer, and a TCP/IP stack without thrashing. DMA, LVD, POR, PWM, and WDT peripherals are on-die, so external supervisor ICs and DMA controllers drop off the BOM.
Industrial temperature grade and integrated converters
The data-converter block includes four 12-bit ADCs, one 16-bit ADC, and one 12-bit DAC — enough to sample three phase currents, a DC-link voltage, and output an analog speed reference without external converters.
