8-bit HC08 core with on-chip LCD drive
The MC908LJ24CPKE: It packs 24 KB of on-chip FLASH program memory and 768 bytes of RAM — enough for a modest control loop with a small data buffer. What sets this part apart in the 8-bit space is the integrated LCD driver peripheral — it can drive a segment LCD panel directly, saving a separate display controller chip and its associated board space. The peripheral set also includes a low-voltage detect (LVD), power-on reset (POR), a PWM module, and a 6-channel 10-bit ADC for analog sensor inputs.
Connectivity and I/O budget
With 48 general-purpose I/O lines brought out to the 80-pin LQFP (also designated as 80-FQFP, 12x12 mm), there is ample headroom for a keypad matrix, status LEDs, and parallel interface to a small character display alongside the segment LCD. Serial connectivity covers I²C, SPI, and an IRSCI (infrared SCI) — the latter being useful for IR remote control or isolated data links without an external transceiver.
Supply and temperature envelope
ROHS3 compliance is confirmed.
