Package and board-fit details
Housed in a 32-VFQFN exposed-pad package (5x5 mm body, supplier device package 32-QFN-EP), the MC34978AES has a wettable flank option on the package terminals — this means the solder fillet climbs the side of the QFN, giving a visible joint after reflow that AOI can inspect, unlike a standard QFN where the joint is hidden under the body.
