16 A RMS, 600 V standard triac for AC load switching
The Ween BTA316X-600C,127 is a standard triac rated for 16 A RMS on-state current and 600 V off-state blocking voltage, housed in a TO-220-3 Full Pack with an isolated tab. The isolated tab simplifies heatsink mounting — no extra insulating pad needed between the device and the heatsink, which reduces assembly steps and thermal resistance path. With a non-repetitive surge current capability of 150 A at 60 Hz (140 A at 50 Hz), this triac handles inrush from motor starts or lamp cold filaments without immediate failure.
Gate drive and hold current for reliable triggering
Maximum gate trigger current is 35 mA and maximum gate trigger voltage is 1.5 V — compatible with standard logic-level or microcontroller-driven optocoupler interfaces. Maximum holding current of 35 mA means the triac stays latched once triggered until the load current drops below this threshold, which is typical for AC phase-control circuits.
