Logic fabric and I/O budget for the MachXO3
The Lattice Semiconductor LCMXO3LF-4300E-5MG121C is a MachXO3 FPGA with 4320 logic elements (LUT4-based) distributed across 540 LABs. That is the hard ceiling for combinatorial and sequential logic before the fitter starts folding — count your LUTs honestly at the RTL stage, because 4320 cells go fast once you add a UART, a small state machine, and a SPI bridge. 100 user I/O in a 121-ball BGA means 21 balls are dedicated to power and ground. The 6x6 mm 121-CSFBGA (0.5 mm pitch) routes out to a 4-layer board without heroic fan-out, but the narrow pitch forces via-in-pad if you need to escape the inner rows on a 2-layer stack-up.
Embedded memory and core voltage tolerance
94,208 total RAM bits (about 11.5 KB) are distributed as block RAM primitives — enough for a 128-deep FIFO with 9-bit data width, a small look-up table for coefficient storage, or a register file for a lightweight CPU core. This is not the part for large frame buffers or packet queues; that is what the external SPI or DDR interface on a larger MachXO3-9400 would carry. Core supply voltage is 1.14 V to 1.26 V — a tight 120 mV window. The rail must be regulated within ±3 % of the nominal 1.2 V.
Temperature grade and deployment envelope
The device is suited for indoor equipment with controlled ambient (office, lab, telecom shelter) but not for unheated enclosures, engine bays, or outdoor base stations.
