What the 15 ns propagation delay means for your logic
The GAL22V10D-15LJ is a 10-macrocell EE PLD from Lattice's GAL®22V10 family, with a maximum propagation delay (tpd) of 15 ns. This delay sets the ceiling for combinatorial logic paths — any signal passing through the device takes at least 15 ns from input to registered output, so the system clock period must be longer than the sum of this delay plus the external setup time of the receiving flip-flop. For a 50 MHz clock (20 ns period), a single GAL22V10D-15LJ stage leaves only 5 ns of timing margin for the rest of the path, which is tight for anything beyond a simple glue-logic function.
Housed in a 28-lead PLCC (J-Lead) package with a body size of 11.51 x 11.51 mm, the GAL22V10D-15LJ is a surface-mount device. The J-Lead footprint is common for through-hole-soldered PLCC sockets or direct reflow — the leads are on a 1.27 mm pitch, which is wide enough for a two-layer PCB without micro-vias. The 28-PLCC package is a standard JEDEC outline, so the same footprint serves multiple suppliers' 28-pin PLCC devices.

Lattice Semiconductor has marked the GAL22V10D-15LJ as obsolete. For a new design, a pin-compatible 5 V CPLD from the same family (GAL22V10B or GAL22V10C variants in the same 28-PLCC footprint) may be a functional drop-in, but the exact propagation delay and programming algorithm should be verified against the original BOM's timing closure.
