The GAL16V8D-25QJN: The 25 ns maximum propagation delay (tpd(1)) sets the ceiling for combinatorial signal paths. For a 5 V system clocked at 20 MHz, the 25 ns delay eats half the cycle — this part fits address decoding, state-machine steering, and bus-interface latching where the critical path stays under 20 ns, not for high-speed pipelined logic. Eight macrocells, each configurable as registered or combinatorial output, replace up to eight 20-pin PAL devices or a handful of 74-series logic. The EE PLD cell is electrically erasable and reprogrammable in-circuit with a standard programmer — no UV eraser needed for prototype turns.
