25 ns tpd — speed grade for address decode and glue logic
With a 25 ns maximum propagation delay (tpd(1)), the GAL16V8D-25LJ fits combinatorial address decoding and small state machines running at clock rates up to roughly 40 MHz — the delay sets the ceiling for registered output toggle before setup-time violations appear. The 8 macrocells each can be configured as registered or combinatorial outputs, giving the designer 8 flip-flops or sum-of-product terms for PAL/GAL replacement in existing 5V logic boards.
5V EE PLD — supply and temperature grade
The EE PLD architecture retains the configuration when power is removed; no external boot memory is needed.
20-PLCC footprint — rework and board-fit
Housed in a 20-lead PLCC (J-lead) package measuring 9 × 9 mm body (20-LCC / 20-PLCC). The J-lead profile allows socketed or soldered mounting; PLCC sockets are common for prototyping and field upgrades. Surface-mount assembly — the J-lead footprint is standard and matches legacy GAL16V8 socket adapters. Bulk packaging means parts ship loose in tubes or trays, not on tape-and-reel.
