The TPSA685K010Y1800 is a molded tantalum capacitor from KYOCERA AVX's TPS series, rated at 6.8 µF with ±10% tolerance and a 10 V working voltage. Its 1.8 Ohm ESR (Equivalent Series Resistance) sets the ripple current ceiling — at 125°C, the self-heating from ESR must stay within the part's power dissipation limit, which is roughly 0.08 W for a 1206 case. This matters when the capacitor sits on a 10 V rail with 100 mV of ripple: the ripple current squared times 1.8 Ohm gives the internal temperature rise.
The 1206 (3216 Metric) case measures 3.20 mm x 1.60 mm with a seated height of 1.80 mm max. The molded construction provides mechanical robustness and moisture resistance compared to conformally coated tantalums.
